ODI Ranking Alert: King Kohli becomes number 1 batsman of ODI after 5 years, Rohit Sharma slips to third position

Virat Kohli No. 1 ODI Batsman : The world’s great batsman Virat Kohli has once again reached the top in the ODI rankings. King Kohli has regained the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC Men’s Rankings update after India’s four-wicket win over New Zealand in the first ODI. 37-year-old Kohli has returned to the top of the batting rankings for the first time since July 2021.

Kohli’s knock of 93 off 91 balls helped the hosts achieve the target, and moved him closer to India great Sachin Tendulkar and second in the all-time men’s international run-scoring table. Kohli has been in great form since the 50-over series in Australia, scoring 74 not out, 135, 102, 65 not out and 93 in his last five innings. With the help of 37-year-old Kohli’s innings, India successfully crossed New Zealand’s total of 300 runs in Vadodara.

This 37-year-old player has returned to the top of the batting rankings for the first time since July 2021. He achieved the top ranking for the first time in October 2013 and this is his 11th separate spell at the top spot. To date, he has remained at the top for a total of 825 days – the 10th most by any player, and the most by any Indian.

New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell burst onto the ODI rankings with a brilliant innings of 84 runs off 71 balls in the first ODI, achieving his best ever rating, finishing just one rating point behind Kohli. He has reached the second position, while Rohit Sharma has slipped directly to the third position.
