ODI World Cup 2027 Qualification: USA and Scotland strong
Preparations for the ODI World Cup 2027 are also in full swing through the ongoing qualification competitions, with the race to play in the main stage of the World Cup continuing. There are currently four teams in the points table of this qualification tournament which are in the top 4.
Sports News: Preparations for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, one of the biggest tournaments of the ICC cricket calendar, have intensified. While the top-ranked teams will qualify directly, the battle for qualification is on for other teams. Currently, ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches are being played, which are very important for those teams which could not get direct entry.
Which teams are ahead in the top 4?
According to the current points table of League 2, United States Cricket Team is in first place with 36 points. After that Scotland Cricket Team is at second place with 32 points. Oman Cricket Team is in third place with 29 points, while Netherlands Cricket Team is in fourth place with 28 points. These four teams are currently considered strong contenders for the next round.
Interestingly, Namibia Cricket Team, which is among the countries hosting the 2027 World Cup, has not got direct entry. The reason for this is that Namibia is not a full member of the ICC, but an associate member. For this reason, it also has to go through the qualification process like other teams. At present, Namibia is at sixth place in the points table and has only 20 points, due to which its position looks very weak.
How difficult is the road ahead?
Namibia still has about 10 matches left. Even if the team wins all its matches, it can reach a maximum of 40 points. However, the problem is that teams like Oman and Netherlands are already in better positions. If these teams continue to perform well in their remaining matches, it will be very difficult for Namibia to make it to the top 4.
In recent matches, Oman has performed brilliantly and defeated Namibia consecutively, which has further strengthened its position. The upcoming matches will be ‘do or die’ for Namibia. He has to play important matches against Oman on 10th April and against Scotland on 12th April. If Namibia loses in these matches, its chances of reaching the top 4 may almost end.
