Odisha FC finally wins ISL 2024-25

Mumbai. Mumbai Odisha FC had a tough start to their ISL season as they lost two consecutive matches, leaving them at the bottom of the ISL table. It was a disappointing season for Kalinga Warriors, which ultimately ended on the tour of Jamshedpur FC. Odisha FC finally got their ISL campaign back on track by defeating Jamshedpur FC 2-1 in a hard-fought match. Jamshedpur could score only one goal in the match and that too was an own goal by Odisha FC player Mortada Fall. Odisha FC defeated Jamshedpur FC 2-1 thanks to goals from Diego Mauricio and Mourtada Fall in their Indian Super League match in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Fall also scored an own goal, which proved to be a mere consolation for the visitors. Although Sergio Lobera's side took the lead before the break, Khalid Jamil's side made the stronger start. Jamshedpur FC might have taken the lead as early as the fifth minute, as Javi Hernandez's free-kick from the middle of the park fell on the head of Stephen Eze, who flicked it on to Pratik Chaudhary. However, the latter's shot was saved by Amrinder Singh.

Odisha FC got the first chance in the 10th minute. Odisha FC broke the deadlock in the 20th minute. Isak displayed some exceptional dribbling skills to find Hugo Boumous inside the box. Boumous passed the ball to Mauricio, whose shot took a slight deflection off Stéphane Eze and went wide of the goal.

In the 42nd minute, Fall finally gave Lobera's team a rest. Boumous took a corner from the right and Faul fired a header straight into the net. In the process, the Senegalese defender scored his 18th goal in the ISL, all of which came from headers. Jamshedpur FC started the second half brilliantly. Two minutes after the restart, Javi Hernandez surprised everyone by launching an overhead kick from the corner position.
