Odisha Vs J & K Ranji match ends in draw

Jammu & Kashmir set Odisha a 269-run target after Abdul Samad’s second century of the match. A 222-ball unbeaten 55 runs by Sandeep Pattnaik helped the host team to gather three points as the Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match ended in a draw at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Monday.

In the second innings Odisha lost eight wickets cheaply but Sandeep Pattnaik’s unbeaten 55 kept things tight at the other end.

In reply to the J & K’s first innings score of 270, with skipper Govinda Poddar’s unbeaten 133 runs the Odisha team scripted a two runs lead in the first innings.

The 22-year-old right-hander Abdul Samad, the rising star from Sunrisers Hyderabad, etched his name in history on October 21 by becoming the first batter from Jammu & Kashmir to score multiple centuries in a single Ranji Trophy match.

Samad racked up 127 runs from 117 balls in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 108 off 108 balls in the second innings and J&K declared their second innings at 270 runs, setting Odisha a challenging target of 269. However, Odisha could only muster 112 runs for the loss of 8 wickets as the match concluded.
