Oil refineries increased LPG production by 10%, central government dismissed concerns

New Delhi, March 10. The central government on Tuesday said there is no shortage of LPG in the country and the supply has become stable after concerns were raised over a possible shortage of commercial cylinders. Government sources said oil refineries have increased LPG production by about 10% following instructions issued earlier and additional administrative measures have been taken to prevent hoarding and malpractices.

Booking period extended from 21 days to 25 days

Sources said that the authorities have increased the monitoring period from 21 days to 25 days to check irregularities in LPG distribution and ensure correct supply. Officials clarified that the government has implemented rules under the Essential Commodities Act to prevent hoarding and ensure easy distribution. He said that the Essential Services Maintenance Act has not been implemented.

Government sources said there were concerns for some time, but the situation has now resolved. To maintain supply, all refineries are currently working at 100% capacity. According to officials, despite geopolitical tensions and supply chain pressures across the world, India is in a better position than many other countries in managing energy supplies.

The concerned authorities are also in regular touch with many countries to ensure that India’s energy needs are met without any interruption. Sources said that the ministry and energy companies are coordinating with international suppliers so that there is no disruption in the supply chain.

Appeal not to trust unconfirmed information released on social media

Government sources said that India has ample sources of energy and is fully prepared to deal with this situation. The government also appealed to people not to believe unverified information circulating on social media and said such claims could spread unnecessary tension.

Sources also said that domestic LPG use is the government’s top priority and supply to domestic consumers is being secured while officials are investigating the concerns of some industry groups regarding the availability of commercial LPG.
