Ola and Uber's problems increase, Center will have to answer
New Delhi : The central government has sent a letter to Ola and Uber seeking their response. The Center asked why different fares are being shown for different phone users? Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has given this information by posting on Instagram.

According to media reports, Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday said the Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has banned cab service providers Ola and Uber for allegedly charging users for traveling to the same location based on the user's mobile operating system Android or iOS. But notice has been issued to fix different prices.
Center asked for answer
Joshi wrote on social media, “Department of Consumer Affairs has issued notice to major cab drivers Ola and Uber through CCPA for charging different prices for booking the same place through different mobile phones (iPhone and Android). Answer has been sought from them on receipt.

alleged violation of rights
Union minister Pralhad Joshi had last month said there would be zero tolerance for exploitation of consumers and asked the CCPA to thoroughly investigate the allegations. He termed such activities as a violation of consumers' right to transparency. The issue came to light in December 2024 when a user shared a photo of two phones that allegedly showed different fares for a particular location on the Uber app.
