Olympic gold medalist winner Iman Khalife takes legal action over leaked medical report
Algeria Algeria. Controversial Algerian boxer Iman Khalif has resorted to legal action over media coverage of a leaked medical report which claims the athlete has XY chromosomes and testicles. According to news agency AFP, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed this through an official statement.
According to Redxx.info, expert endocrinologists Soumaya Fedala and Jacques Young have prepared a report stating that Khalif has 5-alpha reductase deficiency, a sexual development disorder found in biological males. In October, French journalist Jafar Ait Oudia obtained a copy of the intensive physical testing conducted on the athlete. Below is the IOC statement quoted by Geo News:
“We understand that Iman Khalife has taken legal action against individuals who commented on her condition during the Olympic Games Paris 2024, and is also preparing a lawsuit in response to the latest reporting.” The woman, named Angela Carini, is crying as her dream of winning a medal for her late father is shattered in 46 seconds.
The gender debate came to light after Italy's match with Angela Carini during the Paris Olympics 2024, which lasted just 46 seconds. Carini withdrew from the match, claiming that he had never suffered such a bad defeat in his life.
After winning the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics by defeating China's Yang Liu, the young athlete said that everyone's criticism makes success at the Olympics even sweeter. As quoted by The Guardian, Khalifeh said: “I am fully qualified to take part in this competition. I am a woman like any other woman. I was born a woman, lived as a woman , I competed as a woman, there is no doubt about that. [आलोचक]
There are enemies of success, that's what I call them. And because of these attacks my success also gets a special flavour.”
