Omar Abdullah becomes CM of Jammu and Kashmir: Mallikarjun Kharge said – this is an opportunity to keep democracy alive and run the government under the Constitution.

New Delhi. Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. MLA Surendra Kumar has been made the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. At the same time, the role of Congress in the government has not been clear yet. Amidst all this, senior leaders of India Alliance had reached the oath ceremony.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, I congratulate the newly elected Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah. We are happy that someone from our alliance has become CM. Democracy has been established here after a long time. This is an opportunity to keep democracy alive and run the government under the Constitution. We will provide statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah was on Wednesday sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath to Abdullah and his ministers at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC) in Srinagar.

Along with this, National Conference MLA Javed Ahmed Rana, Javed Ahmed Dar from Rafiabad, Sakina Ittu from DH Pora and Surinder Kumar Chaudhary from Nowshera were also sworn in as cabinet ministers by LG Sinha. Surinder Chaudhary has been made Deputy CM.
