In this matter, the Chief Minister met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Abdullahdeli yesterday. It is said that only then he would have proposed the demand for giving statehood to Kashmir.

In this regard, National Conference Party sources said, after Jammu and Kashmir gets statehood, the state government will have the power to make laws. Appointment and transfer of IAS and IPS officers can be done by the state government. If the Finance Bill is passed in the Assembly then the consent of the Lieutenant Governor will not be required.

Being a Union Territory, only 10 percent of the number of MLAs can be made ministers. After getting statehood, 15 percent can be made ministers. A case has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has directly requested the Central Government.
