On Holi, drunken people gave alcohol to the cow, see in the video how cruelty happened to the voiceless cow.

New Delhi: The festival of Holi is a symbol of colors, happiness and brotherhood. People all over the country dance on drums, apply gulal on each other and enjoy sweets like thandai and gujiya.

It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil, which gives the message of love and goodwill, but this year, amid the celebration of Holi, an incident has come to light from Haryana, which has shocked the people. In a video viral on social media, some drunk people are seen being cruel to a cow.

People seen drinking alcohol

In the video, some people are sitting on a bullock cart and are forcing the cow to pull the cart. The most sad part is the one where two persons are seen forcibly opening the cow’s mouth and making it drink alcohol.

People standing nearby are watching it like a show and some are seen laughing and playing. This incident is said to have happened amidst faces stained with the colors of Holi. In the video, people are seen drunk and the poor cow is seen distressed.

Huge anger on social media

People are very angry after seeing this on social media. Many users have called it animal cruelty and have demanded immediate action from Haryana Police. Some wrote that how long will such treatment of animals continue in the name of celebrating Holi.

Organizations protecting animal rights are also condemning it. However, till now there has been no official confirmation of this incident from the police or administration. Nor is there news of anyone’s arrest.

What does the law say on animal cruelty?

In India, inhumane treatment of animals is a crime under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960. Providing alcohol or forcing someone to do work is punishable under this law. In such cases, both fine and jail can be imposed.

Many people are saying that cow is considered a mother in Hindu religion, yet it is very shameful to treat it like this. This incident shows how low people can stoop under the influence of alcohol.

Remember the true meaning of Holi

Holi is a festival of happiness and union, but it never means harming anyone. It is the responsibility of all of us to respect animals and ensure their safety. It is expected that after this video the police will investigate and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
