On Mahashivratri 2026, Himangi Sakhi became the country’s first Kinnar Shankaracharya, Kinnar Shankaracharya Peeth will be established in Pushkar, Rajasthan.

A special ceremony organized on Mahashivratri on Sunday at Lalghati in Bhopal added a new chapter in the history of the Kinnar community. In this grand conference organized under the joint aegis of Kinnar Akhara and Saffron Party, Himangi Sakhi was given the title of Shankaracharya along with Vedic mantras and religious rituals.

Himangi Sakhi, head of Maa Vaishno Kinnar Akhara, is also known as the first Kinnar Bhagwat narrator. His Pattabhishek took place in the presence of Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of Kinnar Akhara, in which a large number of representatives of the Kinnar community, saints and followers from all over the country participated.

The first Kinnar Shankaracharya Peeth will be established in Pushkar.

On this historic occasion, the Peeth located in Pushkar, Rajasthan was declared as the first Kinnar Shankaracharya Peeth of the country. This announcement is being considered an important step towards religious and social identity for the transgender community.

During the ceremony, many eunuchs who had converted to Muslim religion were made to return home through purification process and were re-entered into Sanatan Dharma. In this program, National President of Saffron Party Shivakant Shukla, State President Shivkumar Bhargava, R.S. Representatives of various states including Khalsa and Saint Shri Satyanand Swami Ji Maharaj were present.

Jagatguru and Mahamandaleshwar posts also announced

Rishi Ajay Das, founder of Kinnar Akhara, said that apart from Shankaracharya, Mahants including Jagatguru and Mahamandaleshwar were also announced under the Kinnar tradition in the conference. Kajal Thakur (Bhopal), Tanisha Sanatani (Jaipur), Sanjana (Bhopal) and Sanchita (Maharashtra) were nominated for the post of Jagatguru.

Along with this, Rani Thakur, Mahi Sanatani, Sarita Bhargava, Manju Yadav, Prabha Patel, Nakusha, Palpal Guru Ujjain and others were decorated with the post of Mahamandaleshwar. These appointments are a step taken towards organizing the Kinnar community in the religious structure.

After the Pattabhishek, Himangi Sakhi said while talking to the media that it is her responsibility to organize the Kinnar community and preserve it as per Sanatan tradition. He challenged those who objected to the post of Shankaracharya for debate on the open platform and said that he was ready to present his views on the basis of scriptures.

Himangi Sakhi also announced to establish Kinnar Peeth at various places. He said that this initiative will prove important in bringing the Kinnar community into the mainstream and giving them religious identity.
