On the Shaurya Yatra of Bajrang Dal in Haridwar, Muslim side pelted stones and workers of Hindu organization took to the streets with bulldozers.
Haridwar: Tension spread in Jwalapur area of Haridwar district of Uttarakhand on Sunday evening when stones were suddenly pelted at Bajrang Dal’s ‘Shaurya Yatra’. After the incident, there was a stir among the passengers and workers, while so much anger was seen among the angry workers that some people even reached the spot with bulldozers. However, prompt action by the police and administration saved the situation from worsening. On Sunday, Ram Chowk was fixed as the meeting point of the processions that started from three places of Haridwar, Jwalapur, Haridwar city and Kankhal. As soon as the procession reached there, sudden stone pelting disturbed the atmosphere. After this, heavy police force and administrative officials reached the spot and controlled the situation.

According to sources, all three processions of Bajrang Dal were reaching Ram Chowk in the evening when some unknown people started pelting stones. This attack created a stampede and many people ran here and there to save themselves. As soon as information about the incident was received, several teams of Haridwar Police, senior officers and additional forces reached the spot. Due to prompt response the situation immediately came under control.
Bajrang Dal’s displeasure, President made serious allegations
After the incident, Bajrang Dal state president Anuj Walia accused the administration of negligence. He said, "Attacks on religious processions are a failure of the administration. The culprits should be given strict punishment. Walia raised questions on the law and order situation of Haridwar and said that the security system has completely failed.
FIR registered against unknown people
Haridwar City SP Abhay Pratap Singh said that the incident of stone pelting has been confirmed and an FIR is being registered against unknown people. He said that with the help of video footage and CCTV, the attackers will be identified and no culprit will be spared. Police have deployed additional forces in the area after the incident. There was tension for some time in Jwalapur market and surrounding areas, but the situation was normalized by night. The administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace and stay away from rumours. Surveillance and patrolling have been increased at sensitive points so that no untoward incident happens again.
