Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced an ambitious target of providing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to one crore youth in the state in the next five years. He said that achieving this goal would require comprehensive skill development, high-quality technical education and strong monitoring mechanisms. Under this, the state government has approved the formation of three new departments.
Which three departments
These three departments include Youth, Employment and Skill Development Department, Higher Education Department and Civil Aviation Department. The Chief Minister said that the formation of these departments will strengthen the state’s efforts in employment generation and new opportunities for the youth.
Emphasis on skill development and entrepreneurship
The Chief Minister said that the Department of Youth, Employment and Skill Development will play an important role in motivating the youth towards entrepreneurship. The department will run several schemes in the coming years to increase job opportunities and start new businesses. He informed that it has been decided to establish Directorate of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Bihar Marketing Promotion Corporation. These institutions will help in providing government jobs and self-employment opportunities to the youth.
Under the MSME Directorate, Mega Skill Centers will be set up in each district, which will provide skill training in areas related to micro, small and medium industries. This will create a wide employment base for the youth.
Quality and Innovation in Higher Education
Nitish Kumar said that the new higher education department will promote the quality and innovation of education. Its objective is to encourage research, strengthen technical and vocational education and make vocational education accessible to students from all socio-economic classes.
New opportunities in civil aviation
The Chief Minister said that many new airports are under construction in the state and the formation of the Civil Aviation Department will speed up this process. This will not only open new employment opportunities, but will also promote export of products manufactured in Bihar and industrial development.
Marketing and empowering rural industries
Bihar Marketing Promotion Corporation will help in improving the quality, distribution and availability of products in the sectors of agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, food processing, handicrafts, rural industries and small scale manufacturing. This is expected to create thousands of jobs in rural and semi-urban areas.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government is committed to making the youth skilled, self-reliant and empowered and will leave no stone unturned in providing them better career opportunities.
