New Delhi. After the swearing in of United States President Donald Trump, the troubles of billionaire tech giant Elon Musk, close to him, have increased. Musk's hand gesture during his speech at the swearing-in ceremony is being criticized everywhere. There are allegations that he gave a Nazi salute. However, Musk has rejected these allegations. Pictures and videos of Musk giving the Nazi salute are being shared on social media.

Effigies burnt in Italy

Italian university students hung Musk's effigy upside down in Milan's Piazzale Loreto on Tuesday. This is the same place where in 1945 the body of fascist dictator Benito Mussolini was brutalized and his corpse was hanged upside down along with others. According to media reports, the student group Cambiare Rotta (Change the Course) has taken responsibility for the demonstration. He shared pictures of a hanging effigy which was made from a garbage bag and had a printout of Musk's face stuck on it. “There's always room in Piazzale Loreto, Alan…” the group wrote, drawing parallels between Musk and the notorious fascist leader.

what is the nazi salute

The Nazi salute is also known as the 'Heil Hitler salute'. It was used as an official greeting in Nazi Germany. This involves raising the right arm into the air above the shoulder, with the palm facing downwards, usually at an angle of 45 degrees. This gesture is similar to the way of saluting in ancient Rome.
