According to information received from RTI, 1,01,331 children studying in class 9 in Delhi government schools failed in the academic session 2023-24, while 88,409 students failed in 2022-23, 28,531 in 2021-22 and 31,540 in 2020-21. Were. Similarly, in class 11th, 51,914 children failed in the academic session 2023-24, 54,755 in 2022-23, 7,246 in 2021-22 and only 2169 children failed in 2020-21.

According to the Delhi Education Directorate, 46,622 students have failed in class 8 in the academic session 2023-24 after the 'no-detention policy' (retaining a student in the same class) was canceled under the Right to Education. An official of the Delhi Education Department, on the condition of anonymity, told 'PTI-Bhasha', “Under the new 'Promotion Policy' of the Delhi Government, if the students of class 5th and 8th fail in the annual examination, they will be They will not be sent to the next class but will get another chance to improve their performance through re-examination within two months.

He said that to pass the re-examination, it is necessary to have 25 percent marks in each subject. If this does not happen then the student will be put in 'Repeat Category' which means the student will have to remain in the same class till the next session for improvement.

Talking about the results of class 10th in Delhi, in 2024, 1,64,996 students appeared for the examination and 1,55,442 passed the examination. According to the website of Delhi Education Directorate, this year 94.21 percent students passed the class 10th exam, while 85.84 percent students passed the exam in 2023, 81.27 percent in 2022 and 97.52 percent in 2021.

The results of class 12th are shocking. While 96.99 percent children passed the examination in the year 2024, the percentage of students passed in 2023 was 91.59, 96.29 in 2022 and 99.95 percent in 2021.

Ashok Aggarwal, President of 'All India Parents Association' and senior advocate of Delhi High Court, when asked about the reason for failure of such a large number of children, claimed, “Apart from the shortage of teachers in government schools, the education system is also failing. There is also negligence. Even though the level of infrastructure in schools has improved and recruitment of teachers has started, 20 to 25 thousand posts are still vacant and only guest teachers are appointed on most of the posts.

Some time ago, it was also revealed in an RTI that in the last ten years, 5747 permanent teachers resigned from their posts due to various reasons, but teachers were recruited in their place only on 3715 posts.

According to information received from the directorate, a total of 448 teachers left government schools in 2014. Whereas 411 teachers left government schools in 2015, 458 in 2016, 526 in 2017, 515 in 2018, 519 in 2019, 583 in 2020, 670 in 2021, 667 in 2022 and 950 in 2023.

Thus, 5747 posts of teachers became vacant in the last ten years. But in lieu of these, nine permanent teachers were recruited in 2014, eight in 2015, 27 in 2016, 668 in 2017, 207 in 2018, 1576 in 2019, 127 in 2020, 42 in 2021, 931 in 2022 and 120 teachers in 2023. Hui. (PTI)
