necessary Material-
1 cup rice
1/2 cup moong dal (yellow lentils)
1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
salt as per taste
1 tablespoon oil or ghee
4 cups water

Wash rice and dal and keep aside.
Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin and mustard seeds and let them crackle.
Add onion and fry until golden, then add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add tomatoes and cook until soft.
Now add turmeric and red chili powder to it.
Mix vegetables, add rice, dal, salt and water. Mix everything well.
Cover and cook on medium flame till 3-4 whistles. Let the steam escape on its own.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander.
You can eat it with curd or pickle.
Sambar Rice
If you are thinking of making a relaxing one pot meal on holidays, then sambar rice is the best option for you. It is a South Indian dish, which combines rice, lentils, vegetables and spices to form a delicious, spicy sambar.
necessary Material-
1 cup rice
1/2 cup toor dal
1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, drumsticks, beans and brinjal)
1 small tomato, chopped
1 teaspoon tamarind paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 tsp sambar powder
salt as per taste
1 teaspoon oil
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
Curry leaf
water as required
Sambar Rice make Of Method-
Wash the rice and toor dal and keep aside.
Now add rice, lentils, turmeric, chopped vegetables, tomatoes and about five cups of water in a pressure cooker.
Cook it till 4-5 whistles.
Heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves.
Add sambar powder and tamarind paste to the cooked rice and dal mixture. Add salt as per taste.
Pour the tadka sambar over the rice and mix well.
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with pickle and papad.

Curd Rice
This is also a South Indian dish, which tastes amazing. It is prepared with the help of curd, rice and tadka.
necessary Material-
1 cup rice
1 1/2 cups plain curd
salt as per taste
1 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
Curry leaf
1 tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves
1/2 grated carrot and pomegranate seeds for garnish
Curd Rice make Of Method-
First of all, cook the rice until it becomes soft.
Now let it cool at room temperature.
Now mix cold rice with curd and salt in a bowl.
Now heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves and green chillies and let them crackle.
Pour tadka over curd rice and mix well.
Finally garnish it with grated carrots and pomegranate seeds. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
