One thousand Indian citizens stranded in Qatar amid West Asia crisis return safely to their homeland

New Delhi, March 10. Amidst the deepening crisis in West Asia due to Israel-US vs Iran war, the Indian Embassy continues to coordinate with Qatar Airways and Saudi Arabian authorities to ensure the safe return of Indian nationals stranded in Qatar. In this sequence, about one thousand passengers returned to their country on Tuesday. The Indian Embassy thanked Qatar Airways for this.

Information was given by the Indian Embassy that on March 10, about one thousand Indian passengers traveled to New Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi on Qatar Airways flights. A Qatar Airways flight to New Delhi has been scheduled for March 11. The Embassy said that Indian citizens are being facilitated to travel through Salwa border of Saudi Arabia on temporary transit visa with validity of 96 hours.

The country’s basketball team also returned

The Indian basketball team, which was stranded in Qatar, has reached India via flights from Saudi Arabia, the embassy said. We thank the authorities of Saudi Arabia and Qatar for their cooperation. The 24X7 control room of the Embassy and the helpdesk of the Indian community are continuously active.

Updated advisory was also issued by the embassy

Apart from this, an updated advisory was also issued by the Embassy on Tuesday itself. In this, the Embassy said that those Indian citizens, who are currently stranded in Qatar as tourists/short-term visitors (Haya A1 visa holders) and are not able to return due to cancellation of flights from Qatar from 28 February 2026, are requested to fill their information on the official website of Indian Embassy Qatar.

The Indian Embassy clarified that this is only to know the number and details of those Indian citizens stranded in Qatar who are not residents of Qatar. It was also clarified that those who have already submitted their information through the earlier link, there is no need to fill it again.
