OnePlus announces OxygenOS 15 with new UI, better multitasking and AI tools

Delhi Delhi. OnePlus has introduced OxygenOS 15, its latest mobile operating system based on Android 15, which was rolled out for Pixel phones earlier this month. The new OxygenOS 15 brings a number of improvements, including a new user interface and better multitasking capabilities. However, the most significant change is the addition of new Artificial Intelligence tools, which the company claims will help users achieve more with OnePlus smartphones. OxygenOS 15 will be available in open beta on October 31st – the same day as the OnePlus 13 launch. However, new AI features will arrive sometime in late November.

new look

OxygenOS 15 now looks similar to HyperOS, with a customizable lock screen where photos pop up in different ways depending on how the user interacts with it. It also comes with more widgets and fonts through a tool called OnePlus OneTek, which gives users more ways to customize the home screen.

better multitasking

OnePlus has announced OnePlus Canvas, which lets users access multiple apps in a split-window interface or floating window style, giving users a better way to multitask. OnePlus also claims Parallel Processing – a new performance booster that delivers smoother and smoother animations when transitioning between apps. The company has reduced the size of system files by 20 percent by removing unnecessary features, thereby making more internal storage available. However, this will only work on the upcoming OnePlus 13.

New AI Features

According to the company, OxygenOS 15 also brings additional AI tools that will maximize the smartphone experience. In the Photos app, users will see new image editing features like AI Unblur, AI Detail Boost, and AI Reflection Eraser. The Notes app on OnePlus phones with the latest operating system will add AI-powered tools to help users write, correct, summarize and enhance text. There's also a new on-device search option that uses AI to find specific files from the app tray in just a few moments. Additionally, the Circle to Search feature has finally arrived on OnePlus phones with OxygenOS 15.

OnePlus claims that despite all the new experiences and additional features, such as a new built-in file-sharing solution for iPhones, OxygenOS 15 will be lighter and take up less space on the upcoming OnePlus 13. Older models like the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 series will also be eligible for the new features. However, models older than these may not support many features, especially AI-powered features, due to older hardware.
