11 people running an international pornography website were sentenced to prison on Friday for distributing pornographic content by the Nghe An Province People’s Court.

Nguyen Duc Vinh, 49, along with 10 accomplices, received sentences ranging up to four years in prison for their roles in operating the site “Thiendia” (Heaven and Earth), which authorities say distributed approximately 13 GB of explicit material to millions of users.

The “Thiendia” website, which hosts pornographic photos, videos and stories, operated across borders with servers based outside Vietnam.

To avoid detection, the site’s administrators remained anonymous and conducted transactions through cryptocurrency.

Vinh was reportedly hired by an unidentified individual to manage the website and was responsible for recruiting additional personnel to expand the platform.

Both Vinh and his colleagues were compensated in cryptocurrency.

Authorities stated that the widespread distribution of explicit content on “Thiendia” had caused significant public concern.

The operators were initially apprehended on April 25, and investigations revealed that Vinh earned around VND360 million ($14,229) from his role, while his associates received up to VND200 million each.

The investigation into those who hired Vinh and his team is ongoing, with authorities continuing efforts to identify those behind the website’s operations.
