Protests against the G RAM G bill: Opposition MPs took out a protest march in the Parliament complex demanding withdrawal of the GRAM G Bill. During this time on Thursday, many opposition MPs were holding photographs of Mahatma Gandhi in their hands. The MPs were carrying a big banner with ‘Mahatma Gandhi NREGA’ written on it, raising slogans against the government. They marched from Gandhi statue at Prerna Sthal to Makar Dwar.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, DMK’s K Kanimozhi, TR Baalu, A Raja, IUML’s ET Mohammad Bashir, Shiv Sena (UBT) Arvind Sawant and RSP’s NK Premachandran, among others, took part in the protest against the G RAM G Bill. After the march, Congress President Kharge said, “It is not just a matter of changing the name. MNREGA is about rights – the right to work that we have given. Those rights are being taken away. By eliminating its demand-driven nature, they will refuse to provide work and then claim there is no demand. This is an attack on people’s rights, especially the poor, backward classes and Dalits. We will oppose it till the end – on the streets, in every state and every district.” It is not a question of Mahatma Gandhi’s name;
