Organizing the First National Sports Forum! The announcement was made by the Indian Olympic Association
The first National Players’ Forum was organized : Aimed at strengthening athlete-led governance and accountability in the country’s sports sector Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will hold its first National Players’ Forum at Ahmedabad on January 10. The forum will bring together current and former players, player representatives and key stakeholders from across the country for direct and solution-oriented engagement, the IOA said in a press release. The forum will focus on key issues such as athletes’ rights and responsibilities, ethical and transparent governance, safe sports and integrity, mental health and well-being, anti-doping education, grievance redressal and structured career transition pathways. Discussions will be aimed at converting player feedback into actionable improvements.

Expect to make a meaningful contribution
According to the release, the players’ forum is expected to strengthen the role of the players’ commission and contribute meaningfully to the development of player-centric governance in Indian sports. The IOA said the Athletes’ Forum reflects its strong commitment to ensure that athletes play an active and effective role in policy-making that affects their careers, well-being and future, going beyond consultation.

Evolved India Youth Leadership Dialogue will start from January 9
World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, tennis player Leander Paes and badminton legend Pullela Gopichand, among many top athletes, will participate in the Vikas Bharat Youth Leadership Dialogue 2026 to be held at the Bharat Mandapam from January 9 to 12. The Developed India Youth Leadership Dialogue, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aims to empower the youth of India to play a “meaningful role in shaping the vision of a developed India”. According to the Ministry, a total of 2000 youth have been selected to participate in the national level “Developed India Youth Leadership Dialogue” after assessing more than 5 million youth at the national and state (and union territory) levels.
