O’Romeo Arrives on OTT After Theatrical Run
Vishal Bhardwaj’s romantic action thriller O’Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, is now streaming on Prime Video starting April 10, eight weeks after its theatrical release in February.
Prime Video announced the release quietly on Friday morning, surprising many as big Hindi films usually reveal OTT dates in advance. The film, inspired by S Hussain Zaidi’s non-fiction book Mafia Queens of Mumbaiblends noir storytelling with action and explores themes of power, loyalty, and personal choices.
The film features Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, alongside Avinash Tiwary, Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, and Farida Jalal, with Vikrant Massey in a special appearance. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, O’Romeo combines stylized action with character-driven drama.
Reviews were mixed. Hindustan Times rated the film 3 out of 5, praising Shahid Kapoor’s energy and stylish flourishes but noting that the film “struggles to find its emotional core.” Bhardwaj responded by saying he was proud of the film, calling it a reflection on love and violence.
O’Romeo earned an estimated Rs 80–90 crore worldwide, placing it among moderately successful Hindi releases of 2026. Despite its middling box office run, the film now seeks a wider audience through streaming.
