After this, this film produced by Karan Johar and Adar Poonawala also got entry in Oscar 2026 and now it has been shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category in the 98th Academy Awards.

Homebound has been shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards. 15 films have been shortlisted in this category, in which Karan Johar’s ‘Homebound’ has also secured its place. Filmmaker Karan Johar looked very happy and emotional after this news. He says that he is not able to express his emotions in words at this time. Karan wrote- ‘I don’t know how to tell how proud and happy I am with the journey of Homebound. We all feel proud to see this film in our filmography. Thank you Neeraj for making the dreams of all of us come true.

The film is beyond the shackles of caste and religion

The story of the film is set in a village in North India, where Shoaib (Ishaan Khattar) and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa) believe that only government jobs can save them from caste-religion discrimination. The dialogues of the film, whether they are direct or in gestures, express the pain of their lives. There are many scenes in the film which you will not be able to forget and will bring tears to your eyes. Throughout the film, the friendship between these two seems so real that caste and religion have nothing to do with it. ‘Homebound’ is not just a film, but an experience. It makes you laugh, cry, and makes you face the bitter truths of society to which we often turn a blind eye.
