Big change in acting category
The biggest and most talked about change is regarding the acting category. Till now the rule was that any artist could be nominated only once in the same category, even if he had given many excellent performances in the same year. But according to the new rule, now the same artist can get nomination more than once in the same category. Meaning, if an actor has a great performance in two different films and both get the right number of votes, then both can be included in the nomination list. This change will be extremely beneficial for those artists who play many powerful roles in a year, but earlier due to rules, only one performance could be recognised.
Strictness on use of AI
The second major change is related to the use of technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI). Nowadays, the use of AI in films has increased rapidly, whether it is visual effects, improving sound or making a scene more effective. Earlier, performances influenced by AI were also considered eligible for awards. But now the Academy has made it clear that AI-influenced performances will not be included in the award category. Its objective is to ensure that respect is given solely to human talent and genuine acting and not to technical intervention.

Relief in International Feature Film Category
The third and very important change is related to the Best International Feature Film category and countries like India can directly benefit from it. Earlier the rule was that each country could officially send only one film for this category. Due to this many times the best films did not get a chance. In such a situation, now under the new rule, any country will be able to send more than one film to the Oscars.
This will especially benefit a country with a big film industry like India, where great films are made in many languages ​​and styles every year. Now there will be no compulsion to be limited to only one film.
When will Oscars 2027 happen?
All these new rules will be applicable from the 99th Academy Awards. This ceremony will be organized on 14 March 2027. The history of the Oscars is almost 100 years old and this prestigious stage is now approaching its centenary.
