In a video message viral on social media, he claimed that he is currently in Dubai and his family is being deliberately targeted.

I am not a murderer: Faisal Karim Masood
In the video message, Faisal Karim Masood clearly said that he did not kill Usman Hadi. They claim that this murder was committed by people associated with Jamaat-Shibir. According to Faisal, he moved to Dubai to escape a ‘witch hunt’ i.e. political and administrative harassment.
Clarification given on relationship with Hadi
Faisal admitted that there was contact between him and Hadi, but only for business reasons. He says that he runs an IT company and the meetings took place in this connection. He also admitted that he gave political donations, but in return there was a promise of a government contract, not of any criminal conspiracy.
No shelter found in India
Earlier, Bangladesh Police had claimed that Faisal and another accused Alamgir Sheikh fled to India after the December 12 attack. According to the police, both of them crossed the Haluaghat border and reached Meghalaya with the help of some people in India. As soon as this claim came to light, the matter started taking international colour. However, India’s Border Security Agency rejected the police’s claim outright. Officials say no evidence of border crossing has been found. Neither any intrusion was recorded nor any suspicious activity was detected.
Dubai Connection: Is Visa an escape route?
According to documents related to the investigation, Faisal has a five-year multi-entry UAE visa, which was issued in December 2022. It is being told that he took this visa at his own expense. Now the question arises whether this was a pre-planned plan or just a coincidence?
Youth leader’s death and family’s pain
Usman Hadi, 32, was shot in the head while campaigning in Dhaka. He was taken to Singapore for better treatment, but he died on 18 December. Hadi was not only a young leader but also an important face in the recent mass movements. For his family, this is not just a political murder but an irreparable personal loss.
What answer will the government give now?
First, Awami League and India were accused of this massacre. Now after Faisal Karim Masood’s new statement and presence in Dubai, the question arises that what stance will the Yunus government take now? Will the investigation reach any concrete results, or will this matter also remain entangled in allegations and counter-allegations?
