Our neighbor is a little mad, when will we need weapons… Defense Minister in Nagpur targeted Pakistan and China
New Delhi : Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has made a scathing attack on India’s neighbors Pakistan and China without naming any country. During an event in Nagpur, he said that one of India’s neighbors is “a little mad” and one cannot predict what he will do when. In such a situation, the country will have to be ready all the time, because it cannot be predicted when weapons will be needed. For this reason, it is the need of the hour for India to become self-reliant in the defense sector.
PM Modi is emphasizing on self-reliance
Let us tell you that Rajnath Singh had visited Economics Explosive Company in Nagpur. Here he talked in detail about defense production, future war strategies and the role of the private sector. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously emphasizing on self-reliance in the defense sector and the government is taking concrete steps in the same direction.
Increasing role of private sector in manufacturing
The Defense Minister said that there was a time when the entire defense sector of India was limited to the public sector only and no one even thought about the participation of private companies. But now the situation has completely changed. He said that the government has full confidence in the ability of the private sector and in the coming times, its role in defense manufacturing should be at least 50 percent.
Increase in production and exports
In his address, the Defense Minister also shared the figures of changes in the defense sector in the last ten years. He told that in the year 2014, India’s domestic defense production was about Rs 46 thousand crores, which has today increased to more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore. This increase is a direct result of private sector participation and government policies.
Aim to create a global center of arms manufacturing
Rajnath Singh said that the aim of the government is to make India a global hub of arms production. Referring to recent military operations, he said that sometimes operations last continuously for 80 to 90 hours, where every minute and every decision has importance. Strong preparation and state-of-the-art weapon systems are extremely important for such intense and intense operations.
The nature of war is changing rapidly
Referring to the current global situation, the Defense Minister said that today the nature of war is changing rapidly. Somewhere wars go on for years, somewhere they are limited to a few months and somewhere they end within a few hours. It is clear from examples like the Russia-Ukraine war that the intensity and technical complexity of war is continuously increasing. In such a situation, India will have to be prepared to deal with every kind of situation.
Reliance on indigenous weapon systems
At the end of his address, Rajnath Singh mentioned the indigenous weapon systems and said that more modern versions of weapons like ‘Nagastra’ have been developed. He expressed confidence that if needed in future, these weapons will prove to be extremely lethal for the enemies. He once again reiterated that India’s neighbor cannot be trusted as to what steps he will take, hence a self-reliant and strong defense system is the only guarantee of the country’s security.
