Overbridge built for Rs 61 crore could not run even for 61 days, joints of bridge opened – Read

The Panki Dham over bridge in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, built at a cost of Rs 61 crores, could not last even for 61 days. In such a short time the joints of the bridge opened. On complaint, local MLA arrived and traffic was stopped from the bridge. Now people are again facing the same problems which they used to face 10 years ago. Traffic is disrupted and Rajya Setu Nigam officials are blaming the bridge building company. In such a situation many questions are arising.

When the company was building the bridge, why did Rajsetu Nigam officials never go to investigate its poor construction? Not even 61 days have been completed since the bridge was built. The joints on both sides of the bridge have opened. The local MLA has complained about this matter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Besides, the officer of Rajya Setu Nigam has also been held guilty for negligence in this matter.

The bridge should be rebuilt

The MLA says that after repairing this bridge, he will get the technical examination done from IIT itself. If the bridge is not suitable for traffic, it will be demolished and rebuilt. Not only this, local MLA Surendra Maithani was getting angry and said that corruption in any department will not be tolerated in the Yogi government.

Action will also be taken by complaining to the officials. To ensure smooth movement of traffic on the railway track in Panki area of Kanpur, the people here had demanded an overbridge 10 years ago. After this, the construction of the over bridge in Panki at a cost of Rs 61 crore had started only 3 years ago. The over bridge fell victim to corruption within 3 months.

The bridge was inaugurated only two months ago. The people here were very happy, but after the opening of the joint, one question is arising in the minds of the local people that no matter whose government it is, corruption has strengthened its roots. This bridge was constructed by Rajsetu Corporation. After public complaint, when the MLA reached the spot to see the condition of the bridge, he found that repairs were being done there. BJP MLA Surendra Maithani packed the material used for repair in polythene and took it away. He said that these people are working to defame the government. It is necessary to teach some officers a lesson. He said that an impartial judicial inquiry will be conducted into corruption in the matter.
