Owaisi breaks alliance with Humayun Kabir, announces to contest elections alone in Bengal
A big political development has come to light before the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM has announced to end its alliance with Humayun Kabir’s party. The party has clearly said that now it will contest elections alone in West Bengal. This decision has been taken amid the controversy arising after an alleged viral video of Kabir.
While issuing a post on the social media platform ‘X’, AIMIM said that the recent revelations of Humayun Kabir have raised serious questions related to the insecurity of the Muslims of Bengal. ‘The revelations of Humayun Kabir have exposed the insecurity of the Muslims of Bengal. AI MIM cannot support any such statement which questions the dignity of Muslims. From today AIMIM has withdrawn its alliance with Kabir’s party.
On Thursday (April 9), the stir in the politics of the state intensified after an alleged video of Humayun Kabir surfaced. In the video, he is allegedly seen discussing contacts with BJP leaders and the strategy to remove Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from power. Trinamool Congress (TMC) held a press conference and made serious allegations regarding this video and demanded an investigation into the matter. The party has demanded an investigation into Kabir’s alleged closeness to opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Prime Minister’s Office.
It is also being claimed in the video that Humayun Kabir was planning a strategy to separate the minority votes from the ruling Trinamool Congress, which could affect the electoral equations. He also reportedly mentioned the need for a huge amount of money to implement this scheme.
