Owaisi’s big statement on SIR, ‘This is a question of life and death’, special appeal to the workers
Tezzbuzz Desk- Even before the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list has started in Telangana, political stir has intensified regarding it. Taking a strong stance on this issue, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has called it a very serious matter and has appealed to his party workers to make special preparations.
Addressing an AIMIM meeting in Hyderabad, Owaisi said that taking SIR lightly would not be right under any circumstances. He directed the party officials to keep a close watch on this process and play an active role at every level.
In the meeting, Owaisi said in clear words that his aim is not to scare anyone, but it is very important to take the SIR process seriously. He said that this time is very important to include names in the voter list and to avoid any kind of irregularities.
Owaisi said that this is not just an administrative process, but an important issue related to the rights of voters, hence it will have to be dealt with as “a matter of life and death”.
The AIMIM chief told the party workers that work on the voter list has been going on at the organization level for the last several weeks and there is a need to speed it up. He appealed to the workers to go door-to-door to make people aware and help in getting the necessary documents correct.
According to party sources, AIMIM is already running an awareness campaign regarding SIR, under which voters are being provided assistance in getting their names added to the list and in the verification process.
Opposition parties have also raised questions regarding the SIR process. Some parties have expressed concern about transparency on this and have also raised questions on the role of the Election Commission. At the same time, the ruling party is also being accused of collusion by the opposition parties.
Meanwhile, this appeal of Owaisi is being considered very important politically, which is also being linked to the upcoming election equations.
Enrollment of name in the voter list is the basis of any citizen’s voting rights. In such a situation, the increasing political activism regarding the SIR process shows that this issue may become even more heated in the future. At present, all the political parties are keeping an eye on this process and are preparing strategies at their respective levels.
