Paarl Royals’ shameful record in SA20, became the lowest scoring team in the tournament

Paarl Royals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape, 3rd Match: South Africa Cricket League (SA20) 2025-26 has started. Paarl Royals have faced a bad defeat in the third match of this tournament. This match was played between Sunrisers Eastern Cap and Paarl Royals in Paarl.

This match was very disappointing for Paarl Royals. Paarl Royals team was all out for just 49 runs and lost the match by 137 runs. With this defeat, Paarl Royals added the record of being out on the lowest score in the history of the tournament. Sunrisers Eastern Cap scored 186 runs playing first. While chasing the target of 187 runs, Paarl Royals collapsed for only 49 runs.

Sunrisers Eastern Cap scored 186 runs

Sunrisers Eastern Cap won the toss and decided to bat first. With the help of Jordan Harman’s 62 runs on 28 balls, Quinton de Kock’s 42 runs on 24 balls, and Matthew Britzke’s 31 runs on 23 balls, 186 runs were scored for 4 wickets. Otniel Bartman took 2 wickets for Paul.

Paarl Royals collapsed for 49 runs

Paarl Royals had a target of 187 runs to win. At present, this target is easily chaseable, but Paarl Royals disintegrated under the pressure of the target and the entire team was reduced to 49 runs in 11.5 overs and lost the match by a huge margin of 137 runs. Kyle Verne and Asa Tribe were the two batsmen who reached double figures. Vereen was out after scoring 11 runs and Tribe was out after scoring 14 runs. Because of this spell of his, Paarl got the record of being out on the lowest score in the tournament. Adam Milne and Tharindu Rathnayake took 2 wickets each and Marco Jansen and Senuran Muthusamy took 1 wicket each.

Due to the excellent performance of the bowlers, Sunrisers Eastern Cap made the history of getting out the lowest score of any team in this tournament. Earlier the minimum score of SA20 was 52 runs. Pretoria Capitals had scored 52 runs only against Sunrisers Eastern Cape in 2024.
