Padma Awards 2026: When father Dharmendra received Padma Vibhushan award posthumously, daughter Ahana cried bitterly, even wife Hema Malini could not stop her tears.

New Delhi. Dharmendra, a veteran actor of Hindi cinema, was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan Award. In this special program organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the capital Delhi, Dharmendra’s wife Hema Malini arrived to receive this special honor in place of her husband.

On this occasion, along with Hema, her daughter Ahana Deol was also present. As soon as Dharmendra’s posthumous Padma Vibhushan Award was announced, Hema and Ahana were seen getting emotional on that occasion.

Mother daughter became emotional

Dharmendra, who left his mark as an actor in Bollywood for 6 decades, had entertained the audience a lot in his career through many great movies like Sholay, Charas, Mera Gaon Mera Desh and Apne. Keeping in view his important contribution to the world of cinema, the Government of India announced to give Padma Vibhushan Award to Dharmendra posthumously.

During the Padma Award distribution ceremony on Monday, Hema Malini looked quite emotional when she reached the stage to receive her husband’s posthumous Padma Vibhushan Award. Dharmendra and Hema’s daughter Ahana Deol, who was present in the auditorium, could not control her tears and became emotional. It is known that Dharmendra died last year on 24 November 2025 at the age of 89 and with his departure from this world, an era in Hindi cinema also came to an end.

Padma awards distributed

The country’s most prestigious Padma Award 2026 was organized on 25 May in the capital New Delhi. Many well-known personalities from the fields of cinema, music, sports etc. were honored in this ceremony. President of India Draupadi Murmu presented the awards to this year’s Padma winners during the first civil investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

It is known that on January 25 this year, 131 Padma Awards were announced by the Government of India, which included five Padma Vibhushan Awards, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri Awards.
