Padma Awards 2026: Padma Award ceremony will be held today at Rashtrapati Bhavan! 131 veterans glorified by Draupadi Murmu

Padma Awards 2026: President Draupadi Murmu will present the Padma Awards to 131 individuals today, May 25. The Union Home Ministry made the announcement in a post on its Instagram handle last week. According to the ministry, the President will confer the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards at the first civilian honors ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The central government has announced a total of 131 Padma awards for the year 2026. These include five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awards. 19 of the awardees are women, while 16 will be honored posthumously. The Padma Award is one of the country’s highest civilian honours.

Late actor Dharmendra will be honored with Padma Vibhushan, while late leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren and singer Alka Yagnik will be honored with Padma Bhushan. Cricketer Rohit Sharma, Bollywood actor R. Madhavan, cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, para-athlete Praveen Kumar and hockey player Savita Punia will also be honored with the Padma Shri.
