Padmaavat: Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer to re-release on THIS date
New Delhi: In the era of re-releases, when Bollywood classics are attracting massive footfalls in theaters, another blockbuster is making its way back to cinemas. Here, we are talking about filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 epic film Padmaavat.
The makers on Wednesday (January 22, 2025) took to social media to announce the return of the historical drama. It was disclosed that the film will be coming back to theaters on Friday (January 24, 2025) on its seventh anniversary.

The announcement has left cinema lovers beaming with joy. “This time I’ll definitely watch this in theatre,” commented an X (formerly known as Twitter) user. Another netizen wrote, “Please do a reunion meet with the whole cast and crew. The photos will boost the hype even more!”
Padmaavat plot
The plot of Padmaavat is set in the 13th century and revolves around Queen Padmavati, celebrated for her beauty, and her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh. The storyline intensifies as Sultan Alauddin Khilji, driven by obsession and ambition, invades Chittor in his quest for Padmavati. Little did he know, she would go to great lengths to protect her kingdom and its values.
Padmaavat was reportedly based on Padmavat, a poem by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. The film stirred major controversy at the time of its theatrical release, as several Rajput outfits took offense over the portrayal of Queen Padmavati.
Padmaavat star cast
The much-talked-about movie featured Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in leading roles. It also starred Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad and Anupriya Goenka in supporting roles.
Upon its release, Padmaavat turned out to be a huge commercial success. It won the hearts of moviegoers, garnering acclaim for its stunning visuals, costume design, cinematography, screenplay, soundtrack and performances.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Padmaavat collected Rs 585 crore at the worldwide Box Office. Now, it would be really interesting to see what kind of response Padmaavat receives on its re-release.
