‘If I had not been there, 3.5 crore people of Pakistan would have died’, Trump’s new claim on Operation Sindoor

Donald Trump On Operation Sindoor: US President Donald Trump, in his State of the Union address on Wednesday, once again said that his intervention was decisive in the possible ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He told MPs that because of his actions a possible nuclear conflict between the two countries was averted.

Trump said that the situation could have turned into nuclear war. He further said, “If I had not intervened, a nuclear war could have broken out between Pakistan and India, and about 30 million people would have died in this conflict. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also told me this.”

India and Pakistan have claimed ceasefire many times
Even early last week, Trump repeated his claim that he had prevented a possible conflict between India and Pakistan in May 2025. Speaking at a Board of Peace event, US President Donald Trump said he had reportedly warned both countries that trade talks would be halted if they did not resolve their differences.

In recent months, Trump has claimed more than 80 times that credit for stopping the India-Pakistan conflict goes to him. On separate occasions he also shared figures on the number of jets downed during the conflict, but did not specify which side’s aircraft he was referring to.

India rejected Trump’s claims every time

When Trump was asked what was America’s role during the military conflict with Pakistan, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar responded diplomatically, “US was in the United States of America.” His answer meant that America had no role in the India-Pakistan ceasefire.

Similarly, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also rejected interference by any third party. He said Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted his Indian counterpart on the hotline and requested an end to the conflict, which resulted in a ceasefire agreement between the two countries.
