New Delhi. Pakistan has announced its squad for the three-match T20I series against Australia at home. In this team, experienced pair Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi will return to the T20I setup. Babar and Shaheen did not play in Pakistan’s T20I series in Sri Lanka in early January. During this time both the players were playing Big Bash League. Shadab Khan will strengthen Pakistan’s spin bowling unit, which also includes Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Tariq.

Pakistan and Australia will face each other in three T20I matches. The first match of the series will be played on January 29, the second match on January 31 and the third match on February 1. The World Cup is starting from February 7 in India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan is in Group A at the World Cup along with USA, Namibia, Netherlands and co-hosts India. At the same time, Australia is in Group B with Sri Lanka, Ireland, Oman and Zimbabwe. Pakistan played three T20I matches against Sri Lanka at the beginning of the month. The series was a draw, with both Pakistan and Sri Lanka winning one match each. One match was canceled due to rain. Before the Sri Lanka series, Pakistan played a T20I tri-series at home.
