From Lahore to Karachi… PTI enraged by Munir’s new move, show of strength across Pakistan
Pakistan Politics Crisis: The fight for power in Pakistan has once again turned into a clash between the army and the political leadership. Army Chief General Asim Munir is in the midst of sharp allegations these days that he is taking decisions only to save his position and has nothing to do with the problems of the public.
Political analysts are also calling it Munir’s strategy to destabilize Pakistan. Recent events further strengthen this notion.
Imran Khan is called ‘mad’ claim to tell
The army claimed in its official statement that former Prime Minister Imran Khan is mentally ill. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) spokesperson Lieutenant General Sharif Ahmed Chaudhary said in the press conference that Imran Khan’s thinking is a threat to Pakistan and PTI is tarnishing the image of the army.
This statement has come at a time when Imran Khan is in jail, and his supporters are continuously demanding justice for him. The police action against the family and party leaders has already raised questions on the government and the army.
History of military action is old
There is also talk in political circles that all this is a part of General Munir’s alleged PPP project which is being sarcastically called the Mad Ex-Prime Minister Project. Critics say that Pakistan has a long history of military action against politicians, and this is a continuation of the same tradition.
Softness towards terrorist organizations?
Amidst the baseless attempt to call Imran Khan a madman, another news has shaken the politics of Pakistan. It is being claimed that the government of Pakistan is preparing new launchpads for organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. That is, on one hand the Prime Minister elected by the public is being described as mentally unstable and on the other hand the terrorists are being given a strategic edge. This dual character is putting Pakistan in the dock at the international level.
Army’s statement and questions arising on it
ISPR DG Lt Gen Chaudhary said that if India had attacked and Imran Khan was the Prime Minister, he would probably have demanded talks. This statement is being described as a personal attack on Imran Khan and a way for the army to maintain power. He also said that Imran Khan keeps his sons abroad instead of sending them to the army, while the army is making sacrifices for the security of the country.

Public reaction and political turmoil
PTI workers are continuously on the streets and alleging that the army is suppressing public opinion. The debate has intensified regarding the state of democracy in Pakistan, the role of the army and its relationship with terrorist organizations. Overall, the fight between Imran Khan and Asim Munir may prove to decide the future direction of Pakistan.
