Pakistan counterattacks after drone attacks, airstrike on Taliban linked targets in Kandahar

New Delhi: Tension seems to be increasing once again between Pakistan and Afghanistan. In recent developments, Pakistan has targeted military bases associated with Taliban by carrying out air strikes in Kandahar region of Afghanistan. Pakistan says that this action has been taken in response to the drone attacks seen over its cities in recent days.

According to Pakistani officials, in the last few days, suspicious drones were seen flying over many cities of the country. Security agencies deactivated these drones in time, due to which they could not reach their intended targets. However, there have also been reports of damage due to falling drone debris at some places.

Many people injured by drone debris

According to Pakistani security agencies, despite the action taken to stop the drones, their debris fell in some areas, causing harm to the local people. Two children were injured when drone debris fell in Quetta. Apart from this, information about injuries to some people has also come to light from Kohat and Rawalpindi.

Following the drone activities, the airspace around Islamabad was closed for some time as a precautionary measure. Pakistan described this entire matter as serious and said that targeting civilian areas and military bases "crossing the red line" As it is.

Claim of conspiracy to carry out drone attacks from Kandahar bases

Pakistan has alleged that the drone attacks on its cities were planned from bases in the Kandahar region of Afghanistan. In response to this, the Pakistani Army targeted technical bases and weapons stores by carrying out air strikes there.

According to the report of Sama TV, these bases were used by fighters associated with Taliban and it was from here that the strategy of drone attacks was prepared.

Kabul’s allegation: Fuel depot also attacked

On the other hand, the Taliban government of Afghanistan has made serious allegations against Pakistan. Kabul says that on Friday, Pakistan carried out airstrikes in the capital Kabul and parts of eastern Afghanistan. At least six civilians were killed in these attacks, while about 15 people were injured.

Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that Pakistani planes also targeted the fuel depot of private airline Kam Air located near Kandahar Airport. According to him, this fuel is used for civil aircraft and United Nations flights.

Seven policemen died in bomb blast

Rejecting allegations of targeting civilians, Pakistan has said that its action is only against Pakistani Taliban (TTP) fighters and their network.

Meanwhile, seven Pakistani policemen were killed in a roadside bomb explosion in Pakistan’s north-western district Lakki Marwat. After this incident, the already existing tension between the two countries has increased further.
