The final match of Under-19 Asia Cup was played between India and Pakistan, in which Pakistan performed brilliantly and defeated India by a huge margin of 191 runs. With this one-sided victory, the Pakistani team won the tournament trophy. In the final, Pakistan completely dominated India in both batting and bowling departments.
Pakistan’s pressure on India
After winning the toss and batting first in the match, Pakistan put continuous pressure on the Indian bowlers. Pakistan scored a huge score of 347 runs after losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. The foundation of this big score was laid by opener Sameer Minhas, who displayed excellent form and played a memorable inning of 172 runs. An excellent balance of patience and aggression was seen in his batting.
Minhas hit a flurry of fours and sixes, spoiling the line-length of the Indian bowlers. Deepesh Devendran was the most successful bowler from India, who took 3 wickets, although other bowlers could not leave the desired impact.
India lost three important wickets for 49 runs
The Indian team, which came to chase the very difficult target of 348 runs, started as expected, but after the initial overs, the process of falling wickets started. Indian batsmen came under pressure due to wickets falling at regular intervals and the team never seemed to get closer to the target. India lost three important wickets on the score of just 49 runs, due to which the direction of the run chase deteriorated in the beginning. These initial setbacks also included the wicket of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, from whom a big innings was expected.
Deepesh Devendran showed the most struggle among Indian batsmen. He scored 36 runs in just 16 balls, which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from Deepesh, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a quick inning of 26 runs in 10 balls and tried to increase the run rate for some time with the help of 3 sixes and one four. However, apart from these two, no Indian batsman could face the Pakistani bowlers by staying at the crease.
Pakistan’s bowlers displayed a disciplined performance and completely destroyed the Indian batting order. The result was that the Indian team was all out after scoring only 156 runs in 26.2 overs. In this way, Pakistan won the Under-19 Asia Cup title by registering a huge victory of 191 runs in the final match and left an impression of its strong performance in the entire tournament.
