Sri Lankan captain banned in Pakistan Super League, had decided to leave PSL and play IPL
IPL vs PSL: Indian Premier League is the biggest and popular T20 league not only in India but also in the world. Any world class player can leave any league in the world to play in this league. Something similar was seen this time. Actually, this time IPL and PSL are being played at the same time. In such a situation, some players refused to play Pakistan Super League to play in IPL 2026, which also includes Sri Lanka’s T20 captain Dasun Shanaka. Now Pakistan Cricket Board has banned Dasun Shanaka from PSL for one year.
Dasun Shanaka had refused PSL to play IPL
For the 11th season of Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars team had included Sri Lankan T20 captain Dasun Shanaka. Lahore Qalandars included Shanaka in their team for 75 lakh Pakistani rupees, but Shanaka refused to play Pakistan Super League. He gave importance to IPL instead of PSL and joined Rajasthan Royals.
Dasun Shanaka banned for 1 year in Pakistan Super League
Rajasthan Royals had included Dasun Shanaka for Rs 2 crore. He was included in Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for Sam Curran. Now Pakistan Super League i.e. PCB has taken action against Shanaka and banned him from Pakistan Super League for 1 year. That means Shanaka will no longer be able to be a part of the next season of PSL i.e. 2027.

Earlier Blessing Muzarabani was banned for 2 years in PSL
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board had banned Zimbabwe’s fast bowlers. Blessing Muzarabani was banned. Muzarabani had also decided to leave PSL and play IPL and joined Kolkata Knight Riders. However, PCB has banned Muzarabani for 2 years. Whereas Shanaka has been banned for one year.
