PCB expressed grief
Pakistan Cricket Board said in its statement that the death of Rab Nawaz has caused an irreparable loss to the cricket world. The board wrote that he was 85 years old and was unwell for a long time. PCB prayed for peace of the departed soul and strength to the family to bear this loss.
Journey from player to umpire
Born on 17 October 1940 in Lahore, Rab Nawaz was active in domestic cricket. He was a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler. Between 1982 and 1984, he played two first-class matches. In the two home matches he scored a total of 26 runs, his average being 8.66. He did not get any success in bowling. Although his career as a player was short, he later entered the field of umpiring.
International umpiring career
On 29 March 1982, he umpired for the first time in the ODI match played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. After this, he handled the last match of his international umpiring career in the ODI match played between Pakistan and New Zealand in 1984. In his career, he was the umpire in a total of two International ODI matches. There is a wave of mourning in the Pakistan cricket world due to the demise of Rab Nawaz.
