Diesel crosses 500 in Pakistan: Petrol also reaches 450, yet Afridi said – our situation is good

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi appealed to the people to support the government’s decision to increase fuel prices in the country. Afridi’s message comes amid a huge increase in fuel prices in Pakistan, this is the second time that the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased within a month.

Afridi blamed the ongoing war in the Middle East for Pakistan’s condition and claimed that despite this crisis, the country is in a much better position than others.

Diesel prices increased by 54.9 percent and now costs PKR 520.35 ($1.88) per liter, Reuters reports. On the other hand, petrol is priced at PKR 458.40 per litre. Petrol prices have increased by about 42 percent.

The news agency quoted Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik as saying, ‘It was necessary to increase the prices as international market prices went out of control after the US-Iran war.’ The new prices will be applicable from Friday.

We have to support the government: Afridi
Talking about this, Afridi said in a video message, ‘Friends, I am Shahid Afridi. Because of the war, the global energy crisis that the world is facing right now – Pakistan is still in a better position than many countries. The most important thing is to support the government and support them. As Pakistanis, we should try to follow the steps taken by the government so that there is no hindrance in the progress of the country.

The current fuel crisis has affected Pakistan and its impact has also been seen on the current season of Pakistan Super League. It was decided to hold the matches behind closed doors and the tournament has now been limited to two cities – Lahore and Karachi – compared to the initial plan of holding it in six cities across the country. The board also canceled the opening ceremony to reduce expenses.
