Will PCB take a U-turn? Fine imposed on Pakistani players can be taken back, debate going on in the board regarding this

Pakistan Players Financial Penalties: Pakistan cricket team is under constant criticism after its disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2026. After the team’s exit from the Super-8 stage, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now considering possible action against the players. Although no official financial penalty has been imposed on any player yet, serious discussions are ongoing on the issue within the board.

Brainstorming regarding action against players in PCB

According to reliable sources, PCB is currently considering the option of imposing financial penalty on the players. There is a debate going on within the board as to whether holding players financially responsible for poor performance would be the right step or not. However, the news of immediate cut in players’ salary or remuneration is not being considered true. The final decision is yet to be taken, but the team’s performance has definitely forced the board to think about drastic measures.

Pressure increased after being out of Super-8

In this tournament played jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan’s start was not as per expectations. The team had to face defeat from strong teams like India and England. The important Super-8 match against New Zealand could not be completed due to rain. Pakistan definitely defeated Sri Lanka in the last match, but by then the hopes of the semi-finals were over. After this performance, questions are being raised on the team management and players.

‘Enough is enough’ – resentment between the board and the government

According to sources, there is disappointment not only at the PCB but also at the government level with the performance of the players. The consensus within the board is that players have been getting support and facilities for a long time, but are not getting the expected results in big tournaments. The team players also returned home quietly in small groups. Some players including captain Salman Ali Aga and star batsman Babar Azam reached Lahore, where they were welcomed in a very calm atmosphere.

Former Pakistani player is not happy with the team’s performance

Former captain Javed Miandad described the team’s performance as disappointing and said that the opportunity to perform well in big tournaments does not come again and again. Whereas Mohammad Yusuf believes that some players were given more chances than required, but they could not prove themselves. Former captain Moeen Khan also said that unless Pakistan continues to win against strong teams, it will be difficult to win the ICC trophy.
