Imran in jail, army chokehold outside! Will Faiz Hameed’s revelation bring earthquake? There was panic in Pakistan
Imran Khan News: The politics of Pakistan is currently going through a period of great upheaval. The age-old struggle between power, military and political pressure, Imran Khan vs Pakistan Military, now seems to be entering a decisive phase.
This time the picture is more serious because former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Faiz Hameed, who was once considered the most trusted military officer of Imran Khan, is now reportedly preparing to testify against him.
Chokehold on Imran is continuously increasing
Imran Khan, who is already facing several cases and is in jail, is seen almost collapsing amid military pressure. Army Chief General Asim Munir’s ‘chokehold’ on Imran is continuously increasing. In such a situation, the possible testimony of Faiz Hameed can completely overturn the power equations. If the testimony goes against Imran, the case could escalate to treason, the punishment for which in Pakistan ranges from life imprisonment to death.
Testimony against Imran Khan
Faiz Hameed himself is in trouble right now. On Thursday, a Field General Court Martial found him guilty on four charges and sentenced him to 14 years in prison. These allegations also include interfering in political activities. Meanwhile, in a TV program, former minister Faisal Vavda claimed that Hameed will now testify against Imran Khan. This claim has come at a time when there are already serious allegations against Imran regarding the attacks of 9 May 2023.
In the same program, Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that the attacks of May 9 were the result of joint planning by Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed. This statement has again brought the tension between Pakistan’s politics and army to its peak.
What happened on 9th May?
The events of 9 May 2023 proved to be a turning point for Imran Khan’s politics. His supporters attacked the Corps Commander House in Lahore while there was also chaos outside the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The Army claims that this was not just a protest but a well-planned conspiracy to weaken the appointment of Army Chief Asim Munir.

Khawaja Asif clearly said that Imran could not have done all this alone. According to him, Faiz Hameed’s planning and input was behind this. Now that Hameed himself has been punished and is under military pressure, his turning against Imran can cause a big earthquake in the politics of Pakistan.
