Pakistan: PTI will take to the streets of Lahore, announces big movement for the release of Imran Khan

Imran Khan News In Hindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a major movement for the restoration of democracy, constitution and rule of law in the country. According to local media reports, PTI announced on Friday that protests would be launched at Lahore’s Liberty Roundabout under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The party had already launched the social media platform ‘X’ But had given indications of a nationwide movement. This decision has been taken after the court’s decision in the Toshakhana-2 case in which PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been sentenced. Chief organizer of Punjab, Alia Hamza Malik said that this movement is being carried out as per the clear instructions of Imran Khan.

There will be a march on the streets of Lahore

According to the report of Pakistani media organization Dawn, PTI has ordered its ticket holders, party officials, workers and lawyers in Lahore to be present at Liberty Roundabout to give a warm welcome to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and make the movement successful.

Aliya Hamza Malik appealed to the party workers to fulfill their responsibility for the restoration of the Constitution, law and democracy in the country. He said that turning the main roads of Lahore into a march demanding the release of Imran Khan would prove to be a historic moment.

Why is Imran Khan in jail?

It is noteworthy that Imran Khan is in jail since August 2023 in a corruption case worth 190 million pounds. Currently he is serving a 14-year sentence in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Apart from this, trial is also going on against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act in cases related to the protests held on May 9, 2023. His wife Bushra Bibi has also been sentenced to seven years in this case.

Preparation for movement on the streets

Imran Khan does not have direct access to his social media accounts due to being in jail. However, earlier a post was shared on his official account which mentioned the conversation between Imran Khan and his lawyer. The post said that he has sent a message to CM Sohail Afridi to prepare for the movement on the streets and has appealed to the entire country to stand up for their rights.

Imran Khan described the court’s decision as not surprising and said that the decision was given without listening to his legal team. Terming this decision as unconstitutional, illegal and an act of political vendetta, he has said that he will challenge it in the High Court. PTI says that without justice, economic development and stability is not possible in Pakistan.
