If there is violence, Asim Munir meets Shia clerics amid Iran-Israel war, warns on Khamenei’s death
Asim Munir Meet Pakistan Shia Leaders: Army Chief Asim Munir has expressed strong displeasure over the protests and violence in Pakistan after the alleged death of former Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to Pakistan media, Field Marshal Asim Munir held a meeting with religious leaders (Ulema) of Shia community in Rawalpindi.
According to the information, Munir made it clear to the Shia Ulemas in this meeting that spreading violence or unrest in Pakistan on the basis of incidents happening in any other country is not acceptable under any circumstances. However, he was seen avoiding taking Khamenei’s name directly in his statement.
Pakistan Army issued statement
An official statement issued by the Pakistan Army said that Asim Munir stressed the important role of Ulema in strengthening unity and national cohesion in the country. He also said that religious leaders have an important responsibility to counter misinformation, communal hatred and attempts at destabilization by external forces.
Meanwhile, Asim Munir also justified the actions of the Pakistan Army in Afghanistan. Referring to ‘Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq’, he said that Pakistan will not tolerate the use of Afghan territory for terrorism against its soil and will give a strong response.
Violent demonstrations took place in Pakistan
Let us tell you that earlier this month there were violent demonstrations in many cities of Pakistan, when the news of the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the attack by America and Israel came out. After this, people of Shia community took to the streets in cities like Karachi, Islamabad and Skardu. During this, protesters also targeted American embassies and consulates. About 20 people are reported to have died in these incidents.

Security forces and police also showed strictness during the demonstration, which made the situation more tense. The Pakistan government, however, expressed condolences over Khamenei’s reported death and strongly condemned the Israeli attack. But now both the army and the government are indicating to adopt a strict stance regarding the violence in the country.
