His dope test was conducted on February 7 after Pakistan’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match against Netherlands in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Nawaz admitted his mistake and showed that the substance was used outside of competition, outside of sporting performance. For this reason, he has been given three months of ineligibility, which will be backdated from May 1, 2026, the date from which he started his voluntary provisional suspension.
