Pakistan Super League to witness monumental change
Pakistan Super League is one of the most followed events of the country which is set to begin its 11th season.
Ahead of the upcoming season, major structural reforms have been made to change the dynamics of the cricket league.
It was announced on January 18 by the Pakistan Cricket Board that the tournament is officially shifting to an auction model after working on the draft selection for the previous decade.
PCB called the change “a historic move after a decade of success” in the official press release shared on Sunday.
“This strategic shift is aimed at enhancing competitive balance, increasing transparency, and providing players greater earning opportunities” the statement read.
The preexisting rules of retaining eight players, brand ambassadors and RTM have been abolished for PSL 11.
The news comes after the auction of two new teams took place earlier this month.
After the addition of Sialkot and Hyderabad, the total number of teams in the league is now eight.
PSL XI is set to begin on March 26 after the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
