Australia will tour Pakistan before T20 World Cup, 3 match T20 series will be played in Lahore
Pakistan to host Australia: There is less than a month left for the start of the T20 World Cup 2026. From this World Cup, the Australian team will tour Pakistan for a three-match T20 series. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host three T20 matches against Australia from January 29. This series will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The T20 World Cup 2026 will start from February 7 to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka, before which this series will give an excellent opportunity to Pakistan and Australia to prepare. The Australian team will reach Lahore on January 28 for this series against Pakistan. The T20 series will be played from 29th. The first T20 match will be played on 29 January, the second on 31 January and the third T20 match on 1 February.
What did the COO of PCB say?
Pakistan Cricket Board COO Sumair Ahmed Syed said, ‘This tour is a great start to the year for Pakistan cricket fans. I request them to come out in large numbers to support both the teams during the series as these teams are finalizing their T20 World Cup preparations.”
He further said, “I am sure that Gaddafi Stadium has become a familiar place for the Australian cricket team, as they have played one Test, five ODIs and one T20 match here since March 2022.”

This will be Australia’s third Pakistan tour from March-April 2022. In the year 2022, Australia played a three-match Test and ODI series on Pakistani soil, after which a T20 match was played. Australia also played three of its ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Pakistan. Australia played the only T20 match at Gaddafi Stadium in the year 2022, winning by 3 wickets.

In the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan has been placed in Group A along with India, Namibia, Netherlands and United States of America (USA). The Pakistani team will start its campaign from 7th February. This team will face Netherlands in its first match in Colombo. At the same time, Australia has been placed in Group B along with Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Oman.
