Harry Brook‘s bold move and an amazing innings helped England defeat Pakistan by 2 wickets in the Super 8 ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match, which sealed their place in the semi-finals.
The 45th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 between Pakistan and England was a close affair, as both teams fought well and did not let the match slip away until the end.
Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and decided to bat first on the best batting surface produced by the grounds men of Pallekele till now in this World Cup. Once again, the Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan started well and scored 63 off 45 balls, but his opening partner, Saim Ayub, got out on just 7 runs. Soon after that, Salman Agha also got out on 5 runs.
Babar Azam, with Farhan, stabilized the innings, but at 25 runs, Babar got out. Fakhar Zaman (25) and Shadab Khan (23) also contributed well for the team which helped them reach 164 for 9 in 20 overs.
Liam Dawson took 3 wickets, and Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer picked up 2 wickets each to help their team restrict Pakistan to a par score.
