Shocking news came from Pakistan cricket when 24 year old young cricketer Shahzeb Bhatti has decided to say goodbye to Pakistan cricket at a very young age. On March 9, he announced his retirement through social media. Shahzeb Bhatti was a part of the Sialkot team that won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in the 2024-25 season. He said that now he has understood why many players are leaving Pakistan cricket.

Shahzeb Bhatti posted on social media and informed about his retirement from Pakistan cricket. He wrote that he is leaving Pakistan cricket at the age of 24. Shahzeb told that last year he had won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with Sialkot, the final match of which was telecast live on TV. Despite this, he did not get a place in the team for about 40 consecutive matches and had to sit only on the bench.

Troubled by politics and corruption
Shahzeb Bhatti also openly explained the reason behind his decision. He said that his biggest dream was to play international cricket for Pakistan, but increasing politics, corruption and lack of basic facilities in cricket ruined his career. He said that this has happened not only with him but also with many other players. According to Shahzeb, he has now understood why many players are deciding to leave Pakistan cricket.

In 2025, when the Sialkot team won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy title, Shahzeb Bhatti made an important contribution in the final match. In this low-scoring match, he scored 40 runs in the first innings, due to which his team could come close to Peshawar’s score. He batted brilliantly in the second innings also. Sialkot team was in trouble while chasing the target of 173 runs, but Shahzeb played an important partnership for the ninth wicket and played a big role in helping the team win. He returned unbeaten after scoring 32 runs and Sialkot won the match by one wicket.

Shahzeb Bhatti’s domestic cricket career did not last long. He has played two first class, one List A and one T20 match so far. In these matches, he took a total of eight wickets and scored 76 runs. His last first-class match was against Peshawar in January 2025. Apart from this, he has not played List A cricket since October 2024, while his only T20 match came in December 2023. His decision at such a young age also highlights the ongoing problems in Pakistan cricket.
